- They may feel the abuse is their fault.

Effects of abuse

Looking for Books to Help You Talk With Your Kid?
Sometimes it can be difficult to start conversations with your child, or a child you know, about body safety and sexual abuse. Thankfully, there are many age appropriate books that can be really helpful in this!

How to Report Abuse
If a child tells you something has happened to them, believe them! Obtain basic information but don't ask detailed questions.
If you have any suspicions that a child is being abused, make a report as soon as possible. Making a report does not mean that you are 100% sure that abuse has occurred, it is simply requesting that professionals complete an investigation to determine the child's safety. You are protected as a good-faith reporter, and reports are confidential.
Information needed:
- Child's name
- Child's address/school
- Your concerns or what the child told you happened
- Name of the suspected abuser
